Draw Me Out!
For our last assignment of the semester we were instructed to make a video for the Catalyst center located in the basement of Bluemont hall. I chose to do a How-To video of a game I found in the Makerspace corner called "Draw Me Out." The game is best played in groups or in teams. The box says it is intended for younger children, but I think in an art setting it could be beneficial to the older students as well. You are given one minute to complete a picture of the assigned theme and other game players guess what is depicted. I like this timed drawing because it gets the students to quickly asses the topic and put pencil to the paper. I would use the game in my own classroom when the kids are in a jam for creative thinking or even let them play if ther is a sub with no lesson plan. Making a how to movie wasn't necessarily difficult but needed effort. Doing several takes to get the lines correct and making sense took time. I can utilize the app imovie to save time in class by demonstrating my lessons via video so it is easier to follow along. I can do a before, during, after montage and use additional resources as well. Using the app to create this movie made me more familiar with the platform and is easy to use!
