April Requard
"I strongly believe that students are engaged and empowered when they are able to connect, collaborate, create, and share with others. After all, it’s not just about the technology…it’s what we do with it that matters."
She won Apples distinguished educator in 2013

Today's Topic:
- For this lesson we are building up confidence and putting flaws to bed.
- April suggested getting the class to participate in a word web of positive adjective for each person in the class
- Having fun taking a goofy expressive selfie
- Using technology to our advtange
Let the kids have fun taking pictures of each other and really dig deep to personalize the experience. Afterwards have them crop the photo on the mac editor so it is just silhouettes the student is just a shadow. To do this use the Alpha button to create a transparent background. Play with the background colors using the gradient feature. Upload to Co Memories.
Co Memories is a free website where you can import and export photos easily from one device to the next. It's simple because you don't have to login to any account you just label your photos and then search for them. Photos get deleted after 90 days.
After the photos are uploaded to Co Memories you can download them to an iPad so they can utilize the app WordFoto. Once the app is open and the photo has been selected you can begin putting words onto the photo. You can easily insert words or have an algorithm add some for you. From there you can alter the size, boldness, and color of words you wish to change.
after each student has created they're own unique WordFoto have them all collaborate and put them on a imovie or print them out and use as posters for the class.
